Provider assessment prices do not always cover the same service. Before booking, check what the fee includes, who carries out the assessment, whether a written report is included, and which later appointments are charged separately.

What you actually pay in year one

A first-year total may include the assessment, titration, follow-up appointments, private prescription charges and medication. Providers publish these parts in different ways, so compare the held figures separately and confirm the full likely cost before paying.

Where the price differences come from

Prices can reflect assessment format, appointment length, the professionals involved, report detail and the support offered afterwards. A lower assessment fee is not automatically a lower first-year cost if titration, follow-ups or prescriptions are charged separately.

How to keep the bill down

Check the free local NHS route first. In England, eligible patients can also ask for an NHS-funded Right to Choose referral, making the assessment free. If private assessment is the fallback, compare the whole first-year cost and ask your GP about shared care before booking; shared care is not guaranteed.
